Teeth whitening kits are becoming more and more popular, are nowadays fairly cheap and can be bought over the counter in most pharmacies all over the world. they are even sold on ebay and amazon and are a wonderful way to perk up your smile.
there are two type of kits available - 1) the tray approach and 2) the laser light solution.
1) THE TRAY SOLUTION INVOLVES A PLASTIC MOUTHPIECE BEING WARMED AND THEN MOULDED TO FIT YOUR TEETH. THEREAFTER THE TRAY IS FILLED WITH the gel WHICH comes in one of two strengths - 23% or a 35% Hydrogen Peroxide gel-based solution. iT can be used in the convenience of your own home, rather than having to attend a dental clinic/practice.
2) generally, After applying the gel solution to the surface of the teeth, a light is held several inches away from the patient’s mouth to activate the peroxide component of the gel. This is usually performed by dentists using whitening gels and lasers to activate the solution. This is normally done inside a dental clinic. There are manufacturers and dentists who advertise that this method works better than tray whitening method. There are no actual data completed to support their claims. Actually, after a year of usual lifestyle habits (drinking tea, colas, coffee, smoking, etc.) treatments using laser-accompanied whitening gel are disregarded.
Teeth whitening kits are not suitable for you if you are pregnant, have gum problems, wear braces, had recent oral surgery, decayed tooth or have roots that are exposed.
